Berkersheim is a district of Frankfurt am Main in the north east of the city. The district Berkersheimer was inhabited in prehistoric times, in the first century it belonged to the area of ​​the Roman town of Nida. The inhabited  time of district Berkersheimer finished in third century. The oldest mention of Berkersheim comes from 795: "Berchgisisheim in Niddagau" The name could be derived from a local founder  called Berthgisil l, meaning something like "History Junker".
